Wei Chen was awarded alternative modes of scholarship from the American Association of Geographers (AAG) Urban Geography Specialty Groups

Wei created a 2-minute video to explain why her research matters. Her video with the title “Listen! This award is to recognize the increasingly diverse ways in which researchers disseminate their research. 

In this video, her research aims to detect locations of vulnerable electricity infrastructure during extreme weather events from nighttime light satellite images. With the research outcome, policymakers can effectively build a more resilient and reliable power grid.
